Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan met with the Prime Minister of Hungary

Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met on Thursday with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who arrived in Ashgabat on an official visit.
Welcoming the distinguished guest to the Turkmen land and expressing gratitude for the accepted invitation to visit Turkmenistan at the head of a representative delegation, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that this visit will be an important milestone in the history of interstate relations, TDH reports.
The national leader of the Turkmen people recalled his visit to Hungary in June 2014, during which a joint statement was adopted that defined the contours of the Turkmen-Hungarian partnership.
In response, Viktor Orban said that he was sincerely glad to have the opportunity to visit Turkmenistan, which plays a key role in Central Asia today. Chairman Halk Maslahaty and the head of the Hungarian government exchanged views on the state and prospects of the development of the Turkmen-Hungarian partnership.
Speaking about the upcoming Turkmen-Hungarian talks on June 9 with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, following which bilateral documents on cooperation will be signed, the head of the Halk Maslahaty focused on a number of important areas.
Thus, in the political and diplomatic sphere, according to the national leader, it is necessary to continue the interaction of foreign ministries in order to coordinate efforts to promote the initiatives of Turkmenistan and Hungary in the international arena, primarily within the framework of the UN and other reputable organizations.
Among the promising areas are trade, energy, industrial cooperation, logistics, agriculture and the private sector. Speaking about the energy sector, which forms the foundation of any economy, Chairman Halk Maslahaty noted the coincidence of the positions of the two countries on the issue of reliable and stable transit of energy carriers and its role in ensuring sustainable development and international cooperation. Hungary, as you know, has twice co-sponsored UN General Assembly resolutions put forward by Turkmenistan in this area.
Turkmenistan, which has enormous reserves of natural gas, is open to mutually beneficial cooperation and is ready for a more detailed discussion of this topic.
Among the priorities are cooperation in the transport sector, the expansion of the associated communication infrastructure and the creation of transit and transport corridors, primarily in the East-West direction.
Interest was expressed in partnership in the pharmaceutical industry, given that Hungary is one of the twenty largest exporters of medicinal products in the world. About 150 Hungarian-made medicines and medical devices have been registered in Turkmenistan. Cooperation has been established with Gedeon Richter, which has its representative office in Turkmenistan.
In this context, a proposal was made to establish a joint production facility in Turkmenistan for the production of medicines and medical devices.
The official visit of the head of the Hungarian government to Turkmenistan continues.
