Tashkent (Uzbekistan) will receive this status in 2024, Gabala (Azerbaijan) in 2025, and Kapan (Armenia) in 2026, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.

All three cities have extensive experience in working with young people, as well as equipped with the infrastructure necessary for the life of young people, and international youth cooperation is supported.

The international project "Youth Capital of the CIS" was adopted by the heads of government in May 2022. It is aimed at involving the young generation of citizens in the implementation of programs for sustainable development in all areas of interstate relations.

The city, which received the status of the Youth Capital, is granted the right to host a meeting of the Council for Youth Affairs and the Forum of Youth Public Organizations of the CIS Member States on its territory.

In Sochi, the prime ministers also agreed to hold the sports contests of the CIS countries among children with disabilities.
