Cooperation between Turkmenistan and Korea was the topic of a meeting of diplomats of the two countries in New York


The meeting of the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN, Aksoltan Atayeva, with the Deputy Minister for Multilateral Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Yongmin Park, took place on Monday, June 5, in New York.
As reported on the page of the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the UN, during the meeting, a constructive exchange of views took place on bilateral cooperation, as well as the interaction of both countries within the framework of international organizations, in particular the UN.
The diplomats discussed issues related to the upcoming elections of non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for the period 2024-2025, in particular the candidacy of the Republic of Korea.
The Deputy Minister noted that the Republic of Korea, if elected to the Council, plans to pay special attention to the following areas: peacekeeping and peace- building; women, peace and security; cybersecurity; climate change and environmental security.
Aksoltan Atayeva wished Yongmin Park success in the upcoming elections, and also expressed hope that the Republic of Korea, as a member of the Security Council, will make every effort to strengthen peace and security both at the regional and global levels.
The Ambassador thanked the Government of the Republic of Korea for supporting the resolutions of the UN General Assembly put forward by Turkmenistan and for the informative speech of the representative of the Republic of Korea during the debate of the General Assembly on May 16 this year on item 61 of the agenda of the 77th session "Zone of Peace, Trust and Cooperation of Central Asia".
Atayeva noted that Turkmenistan will host the next ministerial Forum "Central Asia - Republic of Korea" this year, stressing that Ashgabat is firmly committed to continuing a mutually beneficial and multifaceted dialogue with Seoul both on a regional and bilateral basis.
