Ashgabat celebrates the Day of the Russian Language and Pushkin's birthday
Festive celebrations dedicated to the Day of the Russian Language and the birthday of Alexander Pushkin were held in the capital's Ashgabat Park.
The organizers of the event - the Department of Education, Science and Culture of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan, presented an extensive program to the audience on Sunday afternoon. An interactive performance based on Pushkin's work "The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish" unfolded in front of the young guests and their parents.
Next, a quiz on the knowledge of the rules of the Russian language and the works of A. S. Pushkin started, in which both children and adults participated. No less exciting was the readers' competition, where participants recited poems by the great Russian poet.
The final point of the event was the origami workshops, in which young visitors experienced the opportunity to create various figures from paper.
– The support that is being provided to the Russian language and culture in Turkmenistan today is a world example. The actions broadcast by Turkmenistan are becoming a model not only in Central Asia, but also in other countries," Yulia Zaitseva, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Ashgabat, told ORIENT. - We are immensely grateful for this to the country's leadership, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, national leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Russian Russian language schools are now functioning in the country, where not only the Russian language and Russian literature are studied, but also all school academic subjects. The students approach the entrance exams with a high level of knowledge, which was confirmed by the results of the quota campaign that took place for admission to universities of the Russian Federation. Residents of all cities and settlements of Turkmenistan show brilliant results. In general, the level of Russian language proficiency in Turkmenistan remains at a very high level.
On June 6, the Day of the Russian Language and the birthday of A. S. Pushkin, a ceremony of laying flowers at the monument of the poet in the metropolitan park, where his bust is installed, will take place.
The bronze bust of the classic on a stone stele in Ashgabat is known for being the first monument to Pushkin in Central Asia, installed back in 1911.
