On the occasion of the Children's Day in Turkmenistan, commemorative postage stamps were issued and letters were written to the children of the future

The International Children's Day was celebrated on June 1 in Ashgabat with various UNICEF events jointly with the Government of Turkmenistan and with the participation of a children's audience.

The collections of philatelists will be replenished with commemorative postage stamps dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's ratification of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The commemorative series was a confirmation of the country's commitment to the protection and promotion of the rights of every child. They were released by the agency "Turkmenaragatnashyk" together with UNICEF.

On the same day, the United Nations Children's Fund in Turkmenistan jointly with the Ministry of Education organized a special event for children in the format of interactive games, which was held at the UN building in Ashgabat. By participating in fun and informative tasks and competitions, students learned a lot of useful information about their rights and what an important role they play in shaping the future of society.

More than 60 schoolchildren and young SDG ambassadors took part in the action. They were invited to write letters to the children of the future, in which they would tell about their dreams and share their ideas about the new time. Then the messages were framed and displayed in a prominent place in the UNICEF office. These peculiar capsules will be opened and read 10 years later by the younger generation of 2033 and will learn about the desires and hopes of the guys from the past.

On June 1, UNICEF representatives also took part in the annual conference dedicated to the International Children's Day, organized by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan. The forum was held at the capital's Scientific and Clinical Research Center for Maternal and Child Health, where doctors from all over the country gathered, including chief pediatricians and obstetricians-gynecologists from Ashgabat and regional centers. The participants discussed the most important topics of cooperation in the field of breastfeeding, early childhood development, immunization and other issues.

"The celebration of the International Children's Day has become an important event for Turkmenistan, which always confirms its commitment to the well-being of children and the realization of their rights. By involving all our partners, including representatives of the government, educational institutions and the media, UNICEF seeks to strengthen collective steadfastness to the cause of child protection and inspire actions aimed at positive change," said Mohammad Fayyazi, UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan.
