The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan has adopted a constitutional law on the state language - the changes will mainly affect officials and civil servants, as well as the media, the official Kyrgyz press reports.

The law makes it mandatory to use Kyrgyz in office work and document flow, geographical names and information about goods and services. At the same time, the Russian language retains its official status and is enshrined in the Constitution.

The changes will also affect officials - they must know the language at level B1. That is, in the vocabulary - at least three thousand words in Kyrgyz, you need to be able to read, understand the text, as well as express thoughts in writing and orally.

The law also establishes certain rules for the media - 60% of the content of television and radio companies must be in the state language. Regulations have also been established for Internet resources - information in Kyrgyz should not be less than in other languages.

The bill will be sent from Parliament to the President for signature. And only after that the document will come into force.
