Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan visited Kuwait

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met on Monday with Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The meeting took place in the governmental residence, Bayan Palace, in the presence of the first deputy prime minister, foreign minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah and deputy minister of Emir’s Diwan Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah. On behalf of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, Meredov handed a letter to the head of the State of Kuwait regarding the prospects for strengthening ties between the two countries, Kuwaiti media reported. On the same day, the head of the Turkmen foreign ministry had a number of meetings with high-ranking officials of Kuwait. In particular, Meredov was received by the prime minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled As-Sabah, head of the prime minister’s diwan Sheikha Etimad Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Kuwait's Ambassador to Turkmenistan (with residence in Tehran) Majdi Al-Dhafiri took part in the negotiations. In a separate meeting with Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, the ways for enhancing current bilateral relations in various fields, as well as regional and international developments of mutual interest were discussed. In September this year a representative Kuwaiti delegation visited Ashgabat. During the meetings with the leader of Turkmenistan and in foreign ministry, the sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to expanding interstate cooperation in such areas as fuel energy, investment, trade, construction, mining.
