China welcomes the arrival of more high-quality goods from Central Asia to its market amid efforts to intensify trade and economic cooperation, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China said on Thursday, Xinhua news agency reports.

By encouraging its companies to open warehouses in Central Asian countries, China will open its e-commerce platforms to Central Asian enterprises, official representative Shu Jueting said at a press conference.

According to Shu, the country will expand digital trade with Central Asia and share experience in developing advanced digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data and 5G.

China will promote the construction of cross-border infrastructure facilities, strengthen cooperation in the field of oil, natural gas, new energy minerals and other sectors, as well as expand the import of high-quality agricultural products from Central Asian countries, a representative of the Ministry of Trade of the People's Republic of China said.

The latest data from the Ministry showed steady progress in economic and trade cooperation between China and five Central Asian countries, namely Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

According to the ministry, China's trade with the five countries reached $70 billion in 2022 and recorded an annual growth of 22% in the first quarter of this year.

Shu said that China will also strengthen cooperation with Central Asian countries within the framework of multilateral cooperation and supports the early accession of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to the World Trade Organization.
