Athletes who won new awards for the national team were honored in Ashgabat
The celebration of athletes of Turkmenistan, who became prize-winners of international competitions in the period from April to May, took place on Thursday in Ashgabat. The ceremony, which coincided with the City Day, took place in the Olympic Town of the capital and was organized on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who sent his congratulations to the athletes.
The President's message to the athletes was read out at the celebration, during which they were presented with valuable gifts on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and national leader, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Among them: weightlifters who successfully competed at the Asian Championship in South Korea's Chinju; swimmers who participated in the open championship in Uzbekistan, karate players who brought medals from the Yerevan Ararat Cup, Tashkent Asian Cup, Euro-Asian Ashihara Karate Championship in Istanbul.
Among the prize-winners there are taekwondo athletes who celebrated at an international tournament in Tallinn, Estonia, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers who won medals at competitions in Bucharest, Romania, kickboxers who fought in Turkey. The awards were also awarded to representatives of judo (silver at the Asian Cup in Kuwait), wrestlers (medals of the Asian Championship in Hangzhou, China), young tennis players (silver of the Asian Championship in India), the youth hockey team (silver of the world Championship in the third division of group "A" in South Africa), the student team (bronze of the international University tournament in Baku).
In addition, the winners of the European Open Paralympic Powerlifting Championship, held in Tbilisi in the autumn of 2022, were particularly noted.
