The news about the creation of a new analogue of Wikipedia was announced at a Russian Internet forum by State Duma deputy Anton Gorelkin. The resource called "Ruviki" will be hosted on Russian servers and managed by a legal entity, RIA Novosti reports.

The deputy expressed hope that the new site would "fully comply with the legislation of the Russian Federation."

Earlier, in 2022, an analogue of Wikipedia was already created in Russia under the name "Runiversalis". Its authors were people from the Russian Wikipedia. As of August 2022, the resource has 8722 articles.
