Turkmenistan and Afghanistan discussed cooperation in transit cargo transportation


Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the State migration, Customs and Border services of Turkmenistan, as well as the "Turkmenawtoulaglary" Agency of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held an online meeting with colleagues from Afghanistan. This is reported on the website of the "Turkmenawtoulaglary" Agency.
The Afghan side was represented by employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, Customs, Trade and Oil and Gas departments of Afghanistan.
During the meeting, issues related to the expansion of cooperation in the field of transit cargo transportation through Afghanistan were discussed.
Turkmenistan is actively developing its transport infrastructure and participates in the implementation of international projects to create transit corridors. One of such projects is the Lapis Lazuli Corridor, a multimodal transport route Afghanistan—Turkmenistan—Azerbaijan—Georgia—Turkey. The corridor is the shortest and cost-effective channel for bringing Afghan goods to European markets.
