President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the head of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly
On Tuesday, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Chairperson of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Margareta Söderfelt, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the international forum "The Role of Neutral States in Strengthening Security, Stability and Dialogue in the OSCE Region."
During the meeting, it was noted that Turkmenistan, which has the status of permanent neutrality, supported by two resolutions of the UN General Assembly, attaches special importance to multilateral partnership mechanisms in its foreign policy cooperation, including on the platform of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
Turkmenistan proceeds from the fact that today the inter-parliamentary dialogue is one of the most important tools for promoting constructive cooperation, mutual understanding and trust between states and peoples. The delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan takes part in the OSCE PA sessions, seminars and other events held under its auspices.
In this context, the importance of coordinating efforts in ensuring economic development, stable international energy supplies, environmental protection and efficient water use was emphasized. At the same time, the need to continue the exchange of experience in the field of human rights protection, strengthening democratic institutions and the rule of law was noted.
