The election campaign of the candidates for the presidency of Turkey has started in the second round, the Anadolu news agency reports. The second round was scheduled due to the fact that according to the results of the first round of voting, none of the candidates received 50% of the votes needed to win the first round.
The electoral process will continue according to the calendar prepared by the Supreme Election Commission. The next round of the popular vote will be held on May 28.
The current president and head of the Justice and Development Party Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the leader of the opposition Republican People's Party Kemal Kilicdaroglu will take part in the second round.
Voting in the second round abroad and at customs offices will take place from May 20 to 24. The Supreme Election Commission is expected to announce the final results of the elections on June 1.
