Prospects of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan discussed in Astana


The twelfth meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan was held in Astana on Monday. The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Batyr Atdayev, who also co-chaired the forum. The Kazakh side was represented by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar.
The sides discussed issues of mutual interest – cooperation in the field of trade and economic development, in the fields of transport, finance, agriculture and water management, construction, culture and tourism, education and science, as well as in the oil and gas industry. There was also an exchange of views on topics that were considered during the 11th meeting of the IPC, held in Ashgabat in December 2021.

Batyr Atdayev stressed in his speech that Kazakhstan is one of the important trade partners of Turkmenistan in Central Asia. High indicators for the first four months of this year indicate a dynamic growth of mutual trade. The Turkmen Deputy Prime Minister noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics in the foreign trade turnover between the two countries and noted that Turkmenistan will continue to build mutually beneficial relations with Kazakhstan in various spheres of the economy.
Roman Sklyar also noted that the current level of relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan is characterized by dynamic development in all areas of cooperation. Meetings at the highest and high levels, as well as mutual visits of delegations and working groups, which have already acquired a traditional character, provide a solid foundation for bilateral ties, he stressed.
Following the meeting, a protocol was signed, according to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
