China has become the world's largest car exporter for the first time, overtaking Japan and Germany in this indicator. In the first quarter of 2023, China exported a total of 1.069 million cars, and Japan — 1.047 million cars.

Among the largest car exporters in China are Tesla China, SAIC, Chery, Geely, Great Wall Motors, Changan and BYD.

According to the Chinese Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in April, the monthly volume of car exports reached 376 thousand units. This is 3.3% more compared to the previous month and 170% higher than the annual figure.

According to forecasts, by the end of this year, the export of cars from China will reach 4 million. If this trend continues, it is likely that China will surpass Japan and become the world's largest exporter of cars in 2023.

Until 2020, China's annual car exports hovered at around 1 million units for about 10 years. In 2021, Chinese car exports have grown to more than 2 million units. In 2022, a new maximum was reached — 3.11 million cars.
