Addressing his supporters gathered at the central office of the ruling Justice and Development Party in Ankara, Erdogan said that the presidential and parliamentary elections on May 14 in Turkey have become a celebration of democracy.

According to him, the preliminary results of the vote show a large gap between the ruling party and its candidate for the presidency.

"The winner in the elections, regardless of the indicators, was Turkey and its people. The May 14 vote was one of the most record-breaking turnout in the history of our country's electoral processes. Throughout our political career, we have shown respect for the will of the people. We express respect for the opinion of voters in the current elections and all subsequent ones," Erdogan said, expressing gratitude to each of the 27 million voters who supported his candidacy for the presidential election and to all 56 million voters who came to the polling stations.
