New head of Turkmengaz appointed


President Serdar Berdimuhamedov appointed Maksat Babayev as State Minister and Chairman of the State Concern "Turkmengas", who until that moment had held the position of Deputy Head of the department.
The former head of “Turkmengaz”, Batyr Amanov, also went on a promotion and became Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the fuel and energy complex, instead of Ashirguly Begliev, whom the head of state dismissed from the post of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers for Oil and Gas in connection with the transfer to another job.
Such personnel decisions were made at a meeting of the Turkmen government on Saturday.
Maksat Babayev at one time, in 2017, headed “Turkmengaz”, and was also - April 2017 / April 2018 - Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan for oil and gas.
The state concern "Turkmengaz" is one of the largest energy enterprises in the world, carries out exploration, production, preparation, transportation and processing of natural gas, in terms of proven reserves of which the country ranks fourth after Russia, Iran and Qatar.
