Muslim center in memory of soldiers from Central Asia who died in the Second World War opened in Volokolamsk


The status of a memorial was given to the Muslim spiritual and educational center, which opened in the ancient city of Volokolamsk in memory of the heroic deed of the heroes of the 8th Red Banner Guards Division of Panfilov, formed in Central Asia. This is reported by the Russian press with reference to the press service of the administration of the Volokolamsk district.

In the winter of 1941, fierce battles were going on in Volokolamsk. The defense was held by the legendary Panfilovites of the international unit. The fighters of the division - representatives of 43 nationalities, at the cost of their lives, stopped the enemy, rushing towards Moscow.

Now the Muslim center will become a place of prayer and memory of fallen heroes in the Great Patriotic War. Those who wish can also visit the museum room with a permanent exhibition telling about the history of Volokolamsk, its interaction with the East, as well as the feat of the Panfilov heroes.
