Turkmenistan has sent 125 tons of humanitarian cargo to Afghanistan — medicines and medical supplies, as well as food and textile products. Humanitarian aid was sent in accordance with the Order of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.

On May 15, a group of medical workers formed by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan will start working in Afghanistan. Specialists will provide medical and advisory assistance in the maternity hospital, which Turkmenistan built as a humanitarian aid in 2016 in the village of Turgundi in Herat province.

The comprehensive humanitarian action is based on the intrinsically humanistic traditions and principles of the Turkmen people, being a continuation of consistent support for Afghanistan for many years, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan comments.
