First unmanned vessel was launched in China
The world's first IT ship Great Smart was sent in the test journey in the Chinese city of Guangzhou. This unique state-of-the-art ultramodern ship was built by the State Shipbuilding Corporation of China. The vessel combines the latest developments in the field of information technology, including receiving information in online mode and its interpretation, remote control and so on. The dry-cargo ship is equipped with a device that allows controlling the operation of engines, cardan shafts, and in general, the state of central technical equipment. The main advantage of such “smart” ships is that they have low fuel use and they are safe due to complex physical work automation, which was previously performed by a person. Not only in the Celestial Empire, but also in other countries of Southeast Asia, as well as Europe, there are plans to launch unmanned vessels. For example, Japan will test such a vessel in 2019, and in Norway a “smart” container ship will appear by 2020.
