Iranian Consulate General opens in Mary


The new Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abdolmajid Kamju, has taken up his duties in the Turkmen city of Mary. On Friday, May 5, the Iranian diplomat presented his Consular Patent to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Berdyniyaz Myatiev, who, in turn, congratulated him on the start of work and handed over the consular exequatur - permission to perform consular functions.
As reported on the website of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, the parties highly appreciated the interaction between the Mary region and the Khorasan-e-Rezavi region in the trade and economic sphere and in the provision of consular services. The diplomats also discussed the prospects for cooperation between Turkmenistan and Iran in the political, economic and humanitarian areas, calling the bilateral ties that are growing year by year effective.
Also at the talks, an exchange of views took place on the need to further expand the Turkmen-Iranian partnership in the field of transport, trade and energy. The parties agreed to organize regular contacts at the level of heads of administrations of the border regions of the two countries.
