A month dedicated to the World No Tobacco Day has been launched in Turkmenistan

In honor of the World No Tobacco Day, which is celebrated annually on May 31, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, together with the WHO Country Office, launched a month of events.
The opening took place on May 1 in the building of the Turkmen Ministry of Health. Also, an event for children was organized in the capital's Ashgabat Park, which is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle, regular physical education and sports.
WHO established World No Tobacco Day in 1987 to draw global attention to the tobacco epidemic and its deadly consequences. This year it is celebrated under the slogan "We need food, not tobacco" and is aimed at raising awareness of tobacco farmers about alternative crops and marketing opportunities, as well as encouraging them to grow sustainable and nutritious crops.
Tobacco-free Farms is a joint initiative of the World Health Organization, the World Food Program and the Food and Agriculture Organization in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture, which was launched in Kenya. The initiative aims to create a supportive and supportive crop and marketing ecosystem to help farmers transition from tobacco cultivation to alternative livelihoods.
