Russian gas is planned to be supplied to Uzbekistan via the Central Asia – Center gas pipeline

Gas supplies to Uzbekistan from Russia are planned to be carried out via the Central Asia – Center main gas pipeline (MGP). This was announced by the Minister of Energy of the Republic Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov on the sidelines of the 2nd Tashkent International Investment Forum.
The Minister noted that earlier the Bukhara-Ural gas pipeline was considered for these supplies, but this was abandoned due to its deterioration. According to him, currently the interested departments are calculating the costs of building compressor stations necessary for reverse pumping of gas, then the parties will begin negotiations on supplies.
In November 2022, Russia proposed to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to create a "triple gas union" to coordinate the commercial interests of the three countries in this area. On January 18, 2023, Gazprom and the Government of Kazakhstan signed a roadmap for cooperation in the gas industry. On January 23, 2023, Gazprom and the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan also signed a roadmap for cooperation in the gas industry.
About the IHL of the SAC (according to IA Neftegaz.RU)
4-thread IHL system;
throughput capacity - up to 50 billion m3/year of gas;
Route: Turkmenistan - Uzbekistan - Kazakhstan - Russia;
the number of compressor stations is 28;
built in the period -1960 - 1988;
The goal is to supply gas from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in transit through Kazakhstan to the central regions of Russia (to the Saratov region, and then to Moscow and the Moscow region).
resource base:
In Uzbekistan, the Gazli field became the base field of the IHP SAC system (at the moment it has been developed, an underground gas storage (UGS) of Gazli has been created on its basis),
in Turkmenistan the IHP SAC began from the Dovletabad-Dolmez field on the border with Iran.
In order to organize stable gas supplies from Russia to Uzbekistan through Kazakhstan, it is necessary to conduct a full survey of the linear part of the IHP of the CAC, to re-equip and modernize the CS to operate in reverse mode.
This gas pipeline runs in extreme climatic conditions of the Gyzylgum and Garagum deserts, which, together with the more than 60-year-old age of the gas pipeline, requires special attention, notes Neftegaz.RU .
