Turkmenistan will prepare the concept of its chairmanship in SPECA in 2024
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov proposed to carry out work on Turkmenistan's chairmanship in SPECA in 2024 and the preparation of an appropriate concept at a government meeting held on Saturday.
This proposal is aimed at promoting Turkmenistan's international initiatives on such an authoritative regional platform as the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia – SPECA.
Earlier this week, on April 17, the delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the work of the ministerial meeting of the participating countries of the Program in Geneva.
It discussed the work to be done during the period of Azerbaijan's chairmanship in SPECA in 2023.
Turkmenistan has previously chaired SPECA, in 2019. Then Ashgabat hosted high-level international events - SPECA Days.
Meredov also suggested organizing a round table on digital and green transformation of the economy with the participation of international experts in May. A number of other proposals related to expanding cooperation in the field of mass media, establishing partnership contacts with the Academy of the World Intellectual Property Organization, as well as with the WTO in specific areas.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved these proposals, stating that Turkmenistan intends to develop active cooperation with all interested foreign and international partners, and instructed the head to continue systematic work in this context.
