President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated the need to update the concept of the country's foreign policy.

"Serious changes have taken place in the world today. Therefore, special attention should be paid to issues of internal security, strengthening the defense capability, increasing the authority of Kazakhstan and the entire Central Asian region in the international arena," he said, speaking at a meeting on the socio-economic development of the country.

The Head of Kazakhstan added that he instructed the government to update the Strategy-2050. This document defines the long-term vision and key priorities of socio-economic and socio-political development of Kazakhstan.

Tokayev also noted the need for new approaches to ensuring national security.
