The forum "Water Resources Management in the context of climate change" was held in Ashgabat


The Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a scientific conference on "Water resources management in the context of climate change" on Saturday.
The forum was attended by heads and representatives of the foreign policy and other departments of the country, heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states and representative offices of international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, teachers and university students, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.
Speaking to the audience, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Mahri Bashimova noted that water resources play a key role in achieving sustainable development of Central Asia, and transboundary water cooperation is an essential component in ensuring peace, stability and prosperity of the region.
The Deputy Minister stressed that water issues are becoming more and more relevant against the background of global climate change. Therefore, the issues of careful and rational use of water resources come to the fore today.
Heads of foreign diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations, Turkmen experts made speeches during the conference. It was noted that sustainable water resources management requires coordination of efforts of the countries of the region, interaction of state bodies, scientific institutions, international partners for the constant exchange of information, knowledge and technologies and the development of coordinated solutions.
