UAE to launch global competition for startups

On the eve of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 28), which will be held in Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023, the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technologies will hold a global startup competition (Make it in the Emirates Forum) for technology enterprises focused on sustainable development and decarbonization.
The competition, which will be held from May 31 to June 1, is designed to provide startups around the world with a platform for demonstrating innovations and technologies in the field of sustainable development, and to provide an opportunity to exchange experience in this area. Startups will also have the opportunity to further develop and deploy their technologies in the UAE to lay the foundation for the green industries of the future.
"We live in an era when startups can change entire industries. These startups also have promising solutions for some of the world's most pressing challenges, including climate change," said Tariq Al Hashimi, Director of Advanced Technology Implementation and Development at the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.
The deadline for submitting applications for participation in the competition is May 5.
The jury will select 24 startups based on the presented innovative developments, breakthrough potential, scalability and sustainability of the project and competitive advantages.
The contest is one of several initiatives launched by the UAE under the slogan Make it in the Emirates in order to attract investors, industrialists and innovators to the country.
