Erdogan: The centers of attraction of global finance are increasingly shifting from west to east

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended the opening ceremony of the Istanbul Financial Center in Umranie on Monday.
In his speech at the ceremony, Erdogan said: "The Istanbul Financial Center is a visionary project designed to strengthen Turkey's place in the world economy and turn our country into a regional and in the future a global financial center."
According to Erdogan, the centers of attraction of global finance are shifting more and more from west to east, recalling that such centuries-old financial centers as New York, London and Frankfurt were later added to such important financial centers as Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong. In this context, the Turkish leader said that Istanbul, which historically served as both a geographical and commercial bridge between East and West, today can establish the same connection between the financial markets of different parts of the world.
"Istanbul, which has been the financial center of our country throughout history, is now once again assuming this important mission. The financial center will create a new financial ecosystem and bring Turkey into the top league of financial powers," Erdogan said.
"We will also support young entrepreneurs working in the field of financial technologies and blockchain technologies who want to develop and invest in this area," his press service quotes the Turkish leader as saying.
About 100 thousand people will be able to work in the center, created on the model of a smart city, with environmentally safe and compatible with zero waste characteristics, and three state-owned Turkish banks have already begun moving to it.
