Turkey launched the first observer satellite of its own production into space
The launch of the first Turkish-made IMECE observer satellite successfully took place from the American Vandenberg cosmodrome, Anadolu reports. The launch was postponed several times due to weather conditions.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wrote about the launch of the first such device on Twitter.
"This is our first IMECE observation satellite with the ability to shoot in high resolution, produced at domestic facilities," follows from the tweet of the head of the republic.
He also added that Turkey will continue to develop in the global space race, thanks to human resources, capabilities and technologies. Now, after the launch of the satellite grouping, their total number reaches 10 units.
Responsibility for the development of the device, which began in 2017, was assumed by the Research Institute of Space Technologies of Turkey. It will be brought to an altitude of 680 kilometers to collect information designed to combat natural disasters and climate change.
