The President of Turkmenistan pardoned 463 citizens on the eve of the Night of Forgiveness


On Saturday, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree pardoning convicted persons in honor of the Muslim holy night of the fasting month Oraza - the Night of Power (Gadyr gijesi).
It has become a good tradition in Turkmenistan on the eve of this night to give forgiveness to those who stumbled, realized their guilt and embarked on the path of correction. The document releases 463 Turkmen citizens from further punishment, which is an act of mercy.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed Minister of Defense, Secretary of the State Security Council, Chairman of the Commission on Citizenship and Pardon Begench Gundogdyev and the heads of law enforcement agencies to take measures so that the pardoned would return home to their families in a timely manner. The head of state also instructed the heads of regional, district, city administrations to help the pardoned with employment.
This year, Gadyr gijesi, the Night of al-Qadr, or as it is also called the Night of Predestination, the Night of Forgiveness- the 27th night of the month of Oraza (Ramadan) Muslims will celebrate from 17 to 18 April.
