V meeting of Foreign Ministers of Afghanistan's neighboring countries to be held in Ashgabat


Turkmenistan in 2024 will become the venue for the next - fifth meeting of the foreign ministers of the states neighboring Afghanistan. This was agreed upon by the participants of the IV ministerial meeting, which took place in Samarkand on April 13, according to the website of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The forum was attended by foreign ministers and high-ranking officials from China, Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The delegates exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan, and also agreed to continue working together to create favorable conditions for improving the domestic political and socio-economic situation in this country.
The Turkmen delegation at the talks in Samarkand was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Khadzhiev. In his speech, he stressed that the neighboring countries are making great efforts to improve the economic and humanitarian situation in the country. In this regard, the diplomat noted the need for regular dialogues in the format of foreign ministers of Afghanistan's neighboring countries. He called the high-level meetings one of the effective steps in strengthening coordination and cooperation on the issue of providing support to Afghanistan, establishing peace, stability and security in this country.
The participants of the ministerial meeting in Samarkand expressed gratitude and appreciation to Uzbekistan for holding the meeting at a high organizational level and supported the proposal of the Turkmen side to hold the V Meeting of Foreign Ministers in Ashgabat in 2024. It was noted that if necessary, the meeting can be held at an earlier date.
