Turkmenistan to participate in Russian educational initiative
On 3-6 November, Russian Federation and a number of CIS countries will hold major ethnographic dictation, organized by the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs (FAEA) and timed to Unity Day.
The cultural and educational event, which will take place for the second time, this year has gained an international scale. Along with 85 regions of the Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia and South Ossetia will take part in the campaign.
Ethnographic dictation, or more precisely testing, will consist of 30 questions with four variants of answers. 45 minutes will be given for the test solution. The subject of the questionnaire is traditional clothing, national cuisine, folklore, particularities of life and housing, traditions and customs of various peoples living in the territory of the Russian Federation. According to FAEA, Russia is home for 193 nationalities, including 33 thousand Turkmen.
The maximum number of points that can be scored for the all correct answers is 100.
In Ashgabat, where the ethnographic dictation is scheduled for 4 November, everyone can pass tests in the Joint Turkmen-Russian School named after A.S. Pushkin, and on the website www.miretno.ru.
According to the organizers, the event will stimulate interest and desire to study the history of own country, ancestors and ethnoses who live or have historically lived in the neighborhood.
The results of the testing will be announced on 12 December, the Constitution Day of Russia.
The first all-Russian ethnographic dictation was held last year. Testing attracted 90 thousand Russian citizens, while the average score for correctly performed tasks was registered at 54 points out of 100.
