A new hydraulic engineering facility for regulating the watercourse on the 1002nd kilometer of the Karakum River was opened in the Gyzylarbat district of the Balkan region, the newspaper "Turkmenistan" reports.

The commissioning of the new facility with a capacity of more than 68 cubic meters of water per second was timed to coincide with the International Novruz Day and was held in a solemn atmosphere.

The project of the facility was developed by the State Committee of Water Management of Turkmenistan. The facility is designed for rational water use and development of the agricultural sector in the western region of the country.
