Uzbekistan became the champion of the Asian Youth Cup


The youth national team of Uzbekistan won the Asian U-20 Cup for the first time in history, defeating the Iraqi team in the final. The match, held at the Bunyodkor Stadium in Tashkent, ended with a minimum score of 1-0.
The outcome of the match was decided by Umarali Rakhmonaliev's only goal, scored in the 70th minute from the penalty spot.
In the quarterfinals of the tournament, Uzbekistan defeated Australia in a penalty shootout (1:1, penalty shootout - 5:4).
The semifinal match with the participation of the Uzbek national team did not reveal a winner in the main time, in the penalty shootout, Ravshan Haidarov's wards turned out to be more accurate than South Korea (0:0, 3:1).
The U-20 Asian Cup was held in Uzbekistan from March 1 to March 18 at the stadiums of Tashkent and Fergana. The tournament was attended by 16 teams divided into four groups. Two teams from each quartet entered the playoffs.
The four best national teams — Uzbekistan, Iraq, South Korea and Japan — received tickets to the 2023 World Youth Championship, which will be held in Indonesia. The draw for the tournament will take place on March 31.
