Turkmenistan is moving towards the start of the WTO accession process


The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Chairman of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Turkmenistan Rahymberdi Jepbarov, who is on a visit to Geneva, Switzerland, on Wednesday held talks with the Director General of the World Trade Organization Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and her deputy Xiangchen Zhang.
The Turkmen side stressed the readiness of the country's government to work with WTO member states and other interested parties to start the process of joining the Organization.

The head of the delegation confirmed Turkmenistan's interest in deepening cooperation with this integration structure responsible for establishing common principles of international trade, which will contribute to the further development of the country's economic ties.
According to the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said that the WTO highly appreciates Turkmenistan's economic strategy and measures to implement it. The parties expressed confidence that in the near future progress will be made in the work carried out in accordance with the plans of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the WTO.
