The draw for the Central Asian Football Championship will be held in May
The draw for the first Central Asian Football Championship, in which the national team of Turkmenistan will take part, should take place in early May. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press attaché of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Polat Allagulyyev.
"The dates and venue of the draw are at the approval stage. Previously, it should take place in early May," Allagulyyev said.
The championship, which will be held in Bishkek and Tashkent from June 9 to 21, will feature the member countries of the Football Association of Central Asia: Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.
The Russian national team has confirmed its participation in this tournament. In addition, it is planned to invite one of the Asian national teams.
According to the regulations, the eight teams will be divided into two quartets of four teams each. The winners of the two groups will meet in the final. The teams that became the second in their quartets will compete for the third place.
