Negotiations on Turkmenistan's accession to the WTO were held in Geneva


The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Chairman of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Dzhepbarov held a number of meetings with representatives of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Trade Center and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

During the meetings, the Turkmen side emphasized the firm commitment of the government of Turkmenistan to becoming a full member of the WTO. In this context, the vision of Turkmenistan's accession to the WTO, the possibility of launching a work program to prepare the initial documentation was discussed.
Dzhepbarov stressed the importance of creating internal institutional mechanisms for negotiations, studying the consequences of joining the WTO and bringing national legislation in line with the rules of the Organization, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.

Representatives of the above-mentioned international organizations expressed their readiness to provide further assistance to Turkmenistan in carrying out economic reforms and joining the WTO.
