Turkmenistan to sign a Memorandum on Cooperation with UNCTAD
Turkmenistan is going to sign a Memorandum on Cooperation with UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development), Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Rashid Meredov reported during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. The document will fix the priority areas of partnership. Since 2013, UNCTAD and Turkmenistan have been negotiating technical assistance in the country's accession process to the World Trade Organization. The legal framework of cooperation between this international organization and the main customs body of Turkmenistan includes the project agreement on technical cooperation for the implementation of an integrated customs information system «ASYCUDA World». UNCTAD cooperates closely with the UN Commission on Science and Technology for Development, of which Turkmenistan is a member for the period 2017-2020. As a coordinating center in the UN system for sustainable development, trade, finance, technology, investment, UNCTAD aims to promote the integration of developing countries and countries with transition economies into the world economy. To this end, the Conference carries out research and analytical work, organizes intergovernmental meetings, cooperates with civil society and the business sector.
