Uzbekistan approves memorandum on Iran's commitments to join the SCO


President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved a memorandum of commitment for Iran to obtain the status of a member state in the SCO, which was adopted on January 25, 2023. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to a document published on the website of the national legislation base.
The head of state instructed the country's Foreign Ministry to inform the secretariat of the organization about the implementation by Uzbekistan of the internal procedures necessary for the entry into force of the document.
The memorandum on its obligations in order to obtain the status of a SCO member state was signed by Iran in Samarkand in September 2022.
According to the procedure for joining the SCO, the memorandum must also be approved by the member countries of the organization.
