Xi Jinping was unanimously re-elected the President of the People's Republic of China for a third term by deputies of the National People's Congress, China daily reports.
Thus, the current head of state became the first Chinese president in history to be re-elected for a third term. At the same time, he was also re-elected the chairman of the Military Council.
2,952 members of the NPC took part in the voting. The re-election took place at the third plenary session of the first session of the 14th convocation of representatives.
Last year, Xi Jinping was re-elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of China.
