The headquarters of the CIS observer mission for the parliamentary elections opened in Ashgabat


The CIS observer mission has started monitoring the preparation and conduct of the elections of deputies of the Parliament (Mejlis) of the seventh convocation in Turkmenistan. This is reported by the press service of the Commonwealth.
Head of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan Gulmyrat Muradov held a meeting with Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Ilham Nematov on the occasion of the opening of the headquarters of the observer mission in Ashgabat.
The Chairman of the CEC of Turkmenistan informed about the preparations for the elections and the measures taken in this area. In turn, Ilkhom Nematov assured that the mission will carry out its functions strictly in accordance with the laws of Turkmenistan, based on generally recognized principles and norms of international law in the field of organization and conduct of elections.
Currently, the composition of the mission continues to be formed. It is expected that it will include representatives of the CIS member states, the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States and the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth.
Parliamentary elections in Turkmenistan will be held on March 26.
