Turkmen swimmers have won 19 medals of various denominations at the Asian Open Aquatics Championships, which ended in Bangkok (Thailand).

According to ORIENT, the Turkmenistan Aquatics Federation, on the final day of the competition, Turkmen athletes won six medals - five gold and one silver.

The master of sports of international class Merdan Atayev won the gold medal in the 200-meter backstroke, covering the distance in 2 minutes 10 seconds. Musa Jalayev rose to the highest step of the podium in the 50-meter freestyle swimming, showing a result of 24.08 seconds.

Anastasia Morgenstern brought another gold to the piggy bank of the Turkmen national team in the 50-meter freestyle swimming (29.45 seconds). Aynura Primova turned out to be the silver medalist of the championship, having demonstrated the second result in the 200-meter backstroke (2 minutes 32 seconds).

The golden double of the competition day was designed by David Hakobyan. First, the Turkmen swimmer won the 50-meter freestyle, leaving behind rivals from Vietnam and Thailand.

Hakobyan then took another gold, showing the best result in the 50-meter freestyle swimming. He covered the distance in 25.52 seconds.

Thus, according to the results of the competition, Turkmen swimmers won 19 medals, of which 12 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze.

The best swimmers from 12 Asian countries took part in the Asian Open Aquatics Championship, which was held on March 3-5 in Bangkok. In addition to the main disciplines, the competition program included diving and water polo.
