Erdogan leads in the election race in Turkey according to polls


A survey by the Areda Survey research center showed that the current President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is leading in the election race, RIA Novosti reports.
49.8% of the survey participants said they would vote for Erdogan. 21.7% — for the leader of the Republican People's Party Kemal Kilicdaroglu. Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavash received 9.6% of the respondents' votes, while Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu received 6.9%.
The leader among the parties, according to the survey, was the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Parti), which received 38.5% of the respondents' votes.
The Republican People's Party (Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi) is in second place with 22.8%, the Democratic Party of Peoples (Halkların Demokratik Partisi) is in third place with 10.5%.
Erdogan will represent the Union of the Republic party.
General elections in Turkey, both presidential and parliamentary, are scheduled for May 14.
