Meta launches Paid Verification for Instagram and Facebook
CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg has announced the launch of a new service — paid verification for users of social networks Facebook and Instagram — Meta Verified, reports the BBC.
The service will allow you to get a blue check mark next to the user name, which will provide additional protection against hacking, as well as provide direct access to customer support.
"This feature is designed to enhance the authenticity and security of our services," Zuckerberg said, adding that it will first be tested in Australia and New Zealand, and in the future will cover other countries.
After receiving verification, the user will not be able to change the account name, name, date of birth or photo without re-checking.
Persons over the age of 18 will have to provide an official identity card corresponding to the information in the account in order to receive the service.
According to the company, the launch of the new service will not affect previously verified and corporate accounts.
It should be noted that paid verification is being introduced after Twitter owner Elon Musk implemented a similar system in November 2022. However, the innovation found a negative response from users.
