Turkmenistan's junior tennis team has reached the semifinals of the Colombo tournament
The youth national tennis team of Turkmenistan beat the team from Nepal (3:0) in the play-off round of the World Junior Tennis Competition 2023.
Selim Chagylov won a strong-willed victory over his opponent from Nepal with a score of 7: 5 6: 0. Imran Akhundov easily beat another Nepalese tennis player (6:1, 6:0). In the pair, the Turkmen tandem defeated Brijesh Aryal and Darshil Shresth-6: 1 6: 2 .
In the semifinals of the championship, Turkmen tennis players will face a team from Singapore.
The women's national team of Turkmenistan performed less successfully. Ilima Huseynova and Natalia Martynova were defeated with a total score of 2: 1 by opponents from Malaysia.
The next match of the Turkmen tennis players will be held against Indonesia for the third place of the tournament.
The World Junior U14 Championship in Asia and Oceania brought together representatives of tennis sports from 15 countries-Turkmenistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Nepal, Cambodia, Mongolia, Yemen, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Macau, Saudi Arabia and the United Pacific team.
