Turkmen tennis players to take part in international tournaments in Sri Lanka
Young Turkmen tennis players will take part in prestigious international tournaments - Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup. The competition will be held in Sri Lanka from 11 to 24 February.
The composition of the Turkmen team was formed by Imran Akhundov, Selim Chagylov, Resul Mammetkurbanov, Selim Pirdzhikov and Resul Ataev.
The women's team will be represented by Natalia Martynova, Ilima Huseynova, Sabrina Rakhmanova, Aisha Bikbulatova and Meryem Mukhammedova.
The youth tennis team of Turkmenistan will perform under the guidance of head coach Yuri Rogussky.
Under the regulations of the Junior Davis Cup and Billie Jean Cup, in order to enter the World Group (final stage of the draw), each national team, with the exception of the host country, must go through a regional qualification.
There are 5 regional qualification zones: Africa, North/Central America, South America, Europe, Asia/Oceania. The top four national teams from each zonal group, based on the results of the qualifying tournaments, will compete for the trophy in head-to-head matches.
