The establishment of the Central Asia-China Parliamentary Council was agreed in Beijing


The possibility of creating a parliamentary council "Central Asia-China" was discussed on Friday by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Assembly of China Li Zhangshu. The meeting took place in Beijing as part of the state visit of the head of Turkmenistan to China, the official Turkmen media reports.
The parties noted the need for effective use of the possibility of cooperation in the "Central Asia-China" format and the expediency of creating a "Central Asia-China" parliamentary council in this regard. The first event to be held within the framework of the new institute will be the joint forum "Turkmenistan-China: Women and Youth".
For the future of Turkmen-Chinese parliamentary relations, the importance of continuing the interactions established within the framework of the UN and other authoritative international and regional organizations was noted. Li Zhangshu outlined parliamentary cooperation as an important part of friendship and partnership between the two countries.
In recent years, relations between the National People's Assembly and the National Council of Turkmenistan have been established at various levels. China and Turkmenistan maintain a high level of mutual trust and intensify relations between representatives of parliaments and political parties of the two countries, Li Zhangshu stressed.
Having highly appreciated the activities of the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chinese parliamentarian conveyed to him an invitation to visit China at any time convenient for him.
