The Turkish authorities have imposed a state of emergency in 10 provinces of the republic affected by the effects of devastating earthquakes. The decree was signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Anadolu news agency reports.

The state of emergency comes into force on February 8 and will last for 3 months.

At the moment, more than 26 thousand people are involved in rescue operations, help comes from more than 70 countries. The region, which is in a state of emergency, covers about 13.5 million people. The country's authorities have allocated $5.3 billion to eliminate the consequences of a natural disaster.

Turkmenistan also sent a humanitarian aid to the earthquake-affected areas of Turkey.
