Russian President Vladimir Putin has ratified the agreement between Russia and Belarus on mutual recognition of visas by signing the relevant federal law. The agreement allows foreigners with a Belarusian visa to stay in Russia, and with a Russian visa – in Belarus.

The Russian law will come into force on February 1. The agreement itself will not begin to apply until March 2023.

The document provides that in the presence of a Russian or Belarusian visa, foreigners (including citizens of Turkmenistan) can enter and stay on the territory of both states during the validity period of the visa, but not more than 90 days.

Between Russia and Belarus, foreigners with a visa from one of the countries will be able to travel freely by air and rail, and by road – along six agreed roads, which are specified in the annex to the bilateral agreement.

The full text of the document is available on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.
