Turkmenistan can help Azerbaijan to increase gas supplies to Europe – expert

Certain volumes of natural gas needed by Azerbaijan to increase energy exports to the EU may be available from Turkmenistan, former U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza said in an interview with Trend.
At the same time, the gas exploration and production sector in Azerbaijan needs additional investments to double gas supplies to Europe, the expert noted.
Bryza pointed out the potential for increasing supplies within the framework of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan in the development of the Dostluk field in the Caspian Sea, as well as the possibility of exporting Turkmen gas, which is produced at Block 1 in the Caspian Sea.
Ten countries have already requested additional volumes of gas from Azerbaijan, the expert said. Increasing supplies is an important part of the Azerbaijan-EU Strategic Energy Partnership agreement.
